ULS ALUMNI POTLUCK DINNER - July 12, 2025

The Class of ’63 was well represented by Barbara, Fay, Sandra, and Vern at the July 12, 2025 ULS Alumni Potluck Dinner held at the ULS Multi-Purpose Building.  Vern said this was the largest gathering of all the potluck dinners he has attended.  Normally the Class of ’63 has been the oldest class to participate, but this year there were representatives from the classes of ’53, ’56, ’61, and ’62.  Good for the old folks to get out

GUY TALK WITH CHINESE FOOD - APRIL 9, 2025

A group of guys recently met to talk story over Chinese food at Kin Wha in Kaneohe.  Miles was in town with his grandsons who have developed a fondness for staying at Hale Koa, so he took the opportunity to meet with some classmates.  John Chong, Howard Yoshiura, Dennis Sugihara, Vernon Kajikawa, Mel Choy, John Lee, Clay Ching, Ricky AuHoy, and Dayton Auyong, helped Miles eat the ono kau kau.

The guys do not look bad for guys who are eighty years old!

ONO CHINESE FOOD & TALK STORY - SEPTEMBER 6, 2024

Fifteen classmates gathered at the Golden Eagle restaurant on September 6, 2024 to share ono Chinese food and talK story.  Attending were:  Joan (Hardy) Layton from Salt Lake City, Utah, and from the islands - Ricky AuHoy, Vernon Kajikawa, Dennis Sugihara, Melvin Choy, John Lee, Naomi (Lee) Kim, Fay (Yamashita) Yoshida, Carolyn (Watanabe) Adler, Jade Young, Linda Mae Onomoto, Sandra (Aoki) Ohara, Dennis Sugihara, Bobbie Aisaka, and Glenn Bauer.

The menu consisted of the following (there was nothing leftover to take home): Scallop soup; Chinese Chicken Salad; Minute Chicken Cake Noodles; Ginger Onion Fish Fillet; Honey Walnut Shrimp; Mongolian Beef; and Sweet Sour Spare Ribs.

The 60th Class Reunion in 2023 was our last planned gathering as a class but we said we would have informal gatherings whenever an off-island classmate visited if they would just let us know when they would be in the Islands.  This was the first such gathering.

Planning and coordination for the luncheon was done by Ricky AuHoy and Vernon Kajikawa.  Pictures were contributed by Joan Layton, Jade Young, and Ricky AuHoy.

Nothing can be better than enjoying good food and talking story with friends!  Hopefully there will be more of these informal gatherings in the future.
