History

How We Started

A major factor contributing to the uniqueness of the Class of '63 was the fact that seventy percent (62 0f 89 graduates) of the graduating class had been together since the seventh grade.  Twenty-eight classmates were together during their elementary school years and thirty-four joined the class during the seventh grade.  If memory is correct, the list below shows how the Class of '63 came together.  Pictures from the beginning years are found at this link uhs63.weebly.com/through-the-years.

Brothers and Sisters

After Graduation

After graduation, our class continued our education by attending schools spread throughout the country.  You could find us in California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Hawaii, and the United Kingdom.

An incomplete accounting tells us that thirty-one received a Bachelor’s degree; sixteen received a Master’s degree; two received a Ph.D.; five received their Medical or Dental degree; and five received their Juris Doctor degree.

Carolyn Watanabe served in the Peace Corps in India from 1967-69.  Howard Yoshiura also served in the Peace Corps in Micronesia.

We became teachers, attorneys, accountants, doctors, dentists, psychologists, business owners, speech therapists, consultants, bankers, geologists, writers, marketers, architects, pilots, military officers, and worked in the insurance and financial services industry as well as in the tourist industry.
