WHO CAME: Vernon Kajikawa, John Chong, Dennis Sugihara, Carolyn Watanabe (Adler), Fay Yamashita (Yoshida), Sandra Aoki (Ohara), Cathy Coulter (Braun), Jade Young, Naomi Lee (Kim), Dayton Auyong, Miles Nakashima, Glenn & Marilyn Bauer, Cheryl Ho (Olsen) & Roy, Tahi Mottl (Reynolds), Dennis Saiki, Steve Murakami. George Iwahiro, UHS '55 (friend of Jade Young).
WHAT HAPPENED:
Carolyn Watanabe (Adler) & Fay Yamashita (Yoshida) from the Reunion Committee sponsored the informal Friday night affair. Sandra Aoki (Ohara) donated the use of the party room at 999 Wilder Avenue for the event.
There was an abundance of food - all types of pizza from Pizza Hut, fried chicken brought by Dennis Saiki, green salad and sushi brought by Jade Young, and a dessert made by Carolyn Watanabe (Adler). Drinks - beer, soda, wine, liquor, and water were also provided by participants.
No program was planned. We just had a good time sitting and talking story with each other. Discovery of long forgotten information either intentionally or unintentionally, was revealed through some of the discussions - Fay still has letters that many of the guys wrote to her during our college years telling about our schools and expressing our homesickness; Ken sending Valentine cards to Cathy during the first & second grade; many of us having our French grades accepted by our universities and thus eliminating the college foreign language requirement; Glenn’s quest to be a steam locomotive engineer; and many other tidbits of information from long ago.
The pictures below reflect what a good time had by all. Photos of food for Dr. Kaori O'Connor.
